Students Participating in Culinary Conference

In what can best be described as "The Superbowl of Cooking Competitions" Team Wyoming competed against 300 other young chefs from around the world and prepared an outstanding 3-course menu in one hour using only two small gas burners, no electricity or refrigeration.

TCSD #1 High School students Sam Lima, Tori Wolf, Antonina Profatilov, and Anne Romero-Sosa  travelled to the national competition in Charleston, South Carolina where they earned an 11th place finish after being judged on all aspects of their cooking, including professionalism, safety and sanitation, and an extensive recipe design and costing project.

Chef Instructor Molly Matthaei stated, “Our students competed against large technical high schools with mega kitchens and competitive culinary programs and faced tough questions from the judges and were provided plenty of suggested improvements we needed to make to our menu and cooking techniques.”  Matthaei added “ In spite of the critical feedback our students received they are in the top 50 of the 400,00 high school students in the ProStart program  I could not be more proud!”
