Talking with your Student about Jan 9th Incident and School Safety

On Tuesday we were made aware of a potential threat via social media.  In an abundance of caution and in consultation with local law enforcement, we kept all students in buildings who attend CES, JHMS, JHHS, SHS while this issue was investigated.

Please have a conversation with your student about the seriousness of making jokes about using weapons or threats.  Also, please encourage your student to report to school administration or a teacher if they overhear a conversation between other students where threats or weapons are mentioned.  We take all threats seriously and involve law enforcement in each situation.  The safety of our students, staff and community are always taken seriously, even if reported via social media.

We appreciate the partnership with our local law enforcement and that our students report concerns so we can investigate and ensure safety.

Sincerely,

Gillian Chapman, Ed.D.
