TCSD #1 is committed to providing staff professional development days and other in-service workdays for teachers, while recognizing that no student school days impact working families. To lessen the impact, TCSD is working with pARTners to organize a variety of other community organizations to provide CREST, Community+Recreation = Enrich Student's Time on three no school Fridays.
CREST is a new program that offers children the unique opportunity to learn from dynamic professionals and local community partners and participate in project-based learning. On October 14th, January 27th and February 17th CREST will bring community partners together with TCSD staff to provide unique educational opportunities.
Ruth Moran Rooks, Executive Director of pARTners stated, "We are excited to expand and strengthen our alliance with TCSD#1 via the CREST project. CREST (Community + Recreation= Enrich Student's Time) is a concrete example example of the power of partnership. We are forming a dream team of community organizations to transform "no school" days into enriched learning opportunities.
"The school district is excited about this new partnership", said Director of Accountability and School Improvement, Pier Trudelle. Trudelle added, "We are able to accomplish much more when we work together for the benefit of all students, while reducing stress to families by ensuring students have appropriate supervision and educational services on no school days."
Community partners include the Art Association of Jackson Hole, the Cougar Fun, Dancer's Workshop, Full Circle Education, Gain, Wyoming Game & Fish, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming Music Therapy, Jackson Hole Historical Society, Jackson Hole Children's Museum, Grand Teton Music Festival, Off Square Theater, Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation, Teton Raptor Center, Mindcraft, Wyoming Startgazing, Teton County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue, Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, among others. Through the generous support of a grant from the TCSD Recreation District this program is being offered at no cost to ALL children K-8th grade in Teton County School District.
Parents/guardians are asked to submit the registration forms by Wednesday, September 21st. REgistration forms were distributed to each K-8 student. Additional registration forms are available at elementary and middle school offices.
