Dear Jackson Hole Community:
Local and national elections have sparked both celebrations and concerns from our community members, staff, parents, and students. No matter which outcome you preferred, the school district exists to help our students learn to analyze information, think critically, problem solve, celebrate and discourse respectfully.
Now more than ever, it is important that we all seek out unfamiliar faces and find common ground. Through respectful dialogue and personal connections, supporting one another's opportunity to share personal beliefs without fear of insult or negative comments, we help our students grow and model a respectful community.
This year every TCSD school is finding ways to demonstrate how their teachers, staff and students are implementing our core values. Our core values state:
- Trust and Respect.
- Challenging Standards.
- Fairness and equity.
- Resilience and Perseverance.
- Personal Achievement.
This month's focus is "Trust and Respect". We believe in a school culture where people can express their concerns, celebrations, agreement or disagreement. This culture is also supported by Board policies that allow for freedom of expression, without fear of retaliation or bullying.
Our classrooms, schools, and district are safe, respectful places where students can contemplate decisions and examine their feelings. I thank our principals, teachers and staff for creating an environment where our students can demonstrate respect for one another and stand together. If you, or someone you know, needs resources or support in talking with your students about any concerns or anxiety they may feel, please reach out to your school's counselors. They will be able to provide additional resources or support.
Again, I am proud that our schools provide a safe, respectful, supportive place for our students, families and staff each and every day.
