JHHS Building and Construction I Supports Roosevelt Fire Victim with New Shed

At the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, the JHHS Building and Construction I class was offered an opportunity to lend a helping hand to a family impacted by the Roosevelt Fire in Hoback Ranches.

In the fall, teacher Todd Taylor received a call from Sublette County resident Brad Eves, suggesting a partnership- Mr. Eves would lead fundraising efforts to purchase construction materials if JHHS students would build a structure for a family who was impacted by the Roosevelt Fire.

Twelve JHHS Building Construction I students spent a portion of their class time building an 8’x12’ storage shed.  The value of the shed is approximately $3,000.

Mr. Taylor stated, “This project meets our goals of teaching kids how to design and construct a building, while also engaging with a community need.  Providing this structure to a family who lost everything in the fire shows the kids that the skills they are learning can be used to have a positive impact on a family in need. I am really proud of the quality of work they produced.”

The structure will soon be moved to the Hoback Ranches property of a woman who lost her home and all of her belongs during this terrible community tragedy.
