Apply for AVID- Application Process

 

 

Step 1: 

Student Expressed Interest 

Students express interest either using the Encore Registration Form or by emailing their grade level counselor.  

  • Note: A teacher, parent, guardian, or other interested adult can nominate a student by emailing the AVID Coordinator, teacher, or grade level counselor. 

Step 2: 

Student & Parent/Guardian Informational Night

Interested/nominated students and their families/guardians will receive a letter inviting them to attend the AVID Information Night, so they can learn more about AVID. 

  • Note: Attending the information night is not required to be accepted into the program. 

  • Note: Attending the information night does not guarantee selection into the program. 

Step 3: 

Submit Application 

AVID applications must be completed and submitted by April 15. 

Step 4: 

Request Teacher Recommendations

Students must ask one or more current or previous teachers to complete a recommendation survey. (Link) 

Step 5: 

AVID Interviews

Interviews with AVID staff members will be scheduled in April and May. 

 

  • Students who are selected to be in AVID for the following school year will be informed in late May.
