Dr. Scott Crisp
Interim Superintendent of Schools
Teton County School District No. 1
Dear Members of the Teton County School District #1 Community,
It is with deep gratitude and a profound sense of responsibility that I write to you today as the newly selected Interim Superintendent of Teton County School District #1 for the 2025–2026 school year. I am honored by the trust placed in me by our Board of Trustees and am committed to serving our students, staff, and broader community with integrity, transparency, and purpose.
My journey in education began in 1998 as a history teacher at Jackson Hole High School. Many former students of mine are current community members, some even TCSD teachers, with their own children attending TCSD schools. This is an example of deep connected roots I believe our community still has, regardless of recent growth and changes. I continued teaching for a decade, including at Bluffton High School in South Carolina and Summit High School in Bend, Oregon. In 2009, I returned to Teton County to serve as principal of Summit Innovations School for one year, followed by 14 years as principal of Jackson Hole High School. Most recently I served two years as TCSD’s Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. My experiences have also extended to the national level, having worked with the U.S. Department of Education as a Principal Ambassador Fellow, and at the state level, where I was appointed by the Governor of Wyoming to serve as a board member on the Wyoming State Board of Education. I hold a Ph.D. in Education with a focus on Teacher Leadership from Oregon State University, a School Administrative Licensure from the University of Oregon, a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Lewis & Clark College, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of Charleston.
What shaped my educational leadership values started at home. My path into public service was shaped by my mother, an advocate for over 50 years for victims of crime. She rose to leadership at a time when few women held such roles, receiving two US Presidential Awards for her service. Her example instilled in me the value of service, the importance of resilience, and the need for compassion—all essential traits for any leader.
I believe that public education is the most vital institution in our country, and that teaching is the profession that makes all other professions possible. The daily interactions of students, teachers, leaders, coaches, and others who support students in schools profoundly impacts student growth and success. As interim superintendent, I will remain focused on ensuring that TCSD continues to be a place where students thrive, educators are supported, and families are engaged.
Guided by our Board-approved TCSD Strategic Plan, I have the following core goals for the 2025-2026 school year.
- Advocate—alongside Trustees, district leaders, and our state representatives—for fair and adequate school funding during this pivotal year of statewide recalibration.
- Look, listen, and learn from our students, staff, Trustees, families, community organizations, business partners, and higher education institutions to understand perceptions of strengths and areas for growth.
- Support existing school goals, coupled with a focus on increasing innovative learning opportunities that allow for students to take ownership of learning through personalized and real-world application of knowledge.
- Prioritize student and staff safety.
- Enhance two-way communication across the district and with the broader community.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our schools.
