9-16-19 newsletter

Hello,

Thank you to those who were able to attend Open House last week. I appreciate your interest in your child's fifth-grade year.

Today we will be doing the Fastbridge reading and math assessment, just another tool we use to see where the kids are and how we can help them move forward. We will continue reading The One and Only Ivan as a class and we will work on Prime and Composite numbers in math.

This week will mostly be all about outdoor education. Tomorrow we will be on the river, weather permitting. It is looking pretty much like rain all day. I will let you know whether the trip is happening or not as soon as I hear from the Snake River Fund. If we do go, please be sure your child has dressed appropriately for the weather. They will need a water bottle and lunch. We will leave school around 9:45 and will return about 2:00.

As I mentioned at Parent Night, we are outside at TSS no matter the weather. Please be sure your child has rain gear and warm clothing. If your child has rain boots it would be a good idea to pack those as well as hiking boots and/or tennis shoes. Warm, dry kids are a lot happier than cold, wet ones!  On that note, I saw that a camera is listed as one of the items to pack. The kids DO NOT need a camera, so don't worry about that. The kids will need to bring lunch on Wednesday. We will eat early, at 11:00, before loading the bus and leaving at 11:45.  Just a reminder that you will need to pick your child up here at school on Friday at 2:55, as they can’t take their gear on the bus. They will be exhausted, so an early bedtime Friday night will probably be in order!
