Kindergarten Exemption Process

The first step in the exemption process is completing an online survey to gather a bit more information about your child and your interest in registering early for Kindergarten. You’ll be able to do this once the online registration opens on March 2nd, 2026. Then, your child will attend the Kindergarten Round Up screening in the Spring. This screener focuses on skills and behaviors that Kindergarteners need in order to be successful at the start of the year, and will give us a picture of your child as a Kindergarten learner.  After that, the next step is an exemption meeting. This is an informal meeting between you, your building principal, Kindergarten teacher and preschool teacher (if applicable). In this meeting, we’ll talk about the Kindergarten readiness survey that you will have completed prior, go over the Kinder Round Up screener results, and get to know your child a bit more. These meetings will take place in the Spring (May).

Decisions regarding entrance in Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year will be made upon the completion of the exemption meeting, usually in early June. Have additional questions? Please contact Alex Goe, Preschool Liaison.
